Transitions and Updates!

Greetings friends,

This post has been long past due (two months or so), but I needed to allow some time for me and my family to settle into the transitions we have been in. Since our move to the East coast, it has been one transition after the other (job, school, marriage, new baby), but we always end up in a beautiful space. And now, with this new transition in our lives, I feel very much the way I felt when I decided to move to to the Northeast-- that it was one necessary for my me and my family’s growth.

I recently resigned from my job as Co-Director of a youth program at an Environmental Justice organization. After having long discussions with my husband, we decided that it is the best decision for myself, my family and the program. My children will never be young again and the youth I worked with deserve someone who can be fully present with the work.

I will be focusing on my family, working from home ( music, urbanmamasong, writing, coaching) and school.

Coming soon...

I have been and am currently in the “almost finished” revisions of the newest edition of The Urban Mamafesto: 12 practices for mamas who want to live their creative dreams (aka the Urban Mamasong Mamafesto) set to be re-released mid September.

In addition to the re-release of the e-book, I am creating a 12-week e-course(based on the e-book) that you don’t want to miss out on--it is chock full of goodies! This is truly a labor of love, passion and vision. I am so excited to share it with you. More details on start date, cost as well as a sample chapter from the e-book!!!

A Return to song

I have played two or three times since I have moved to the East coast. Two or three times! That’s unbelievable considering I performed that much every week when I lived in New Orleans. My husband has been my sounding board and will be co-managing (with me) my re-emerging music career as well as playing in my band from time to time. When we met 11 years ago with the intention to create music together. Back then it didn't happen. 11 yrs, a wedding and 2 kids later, we are finally making music together.

I have two exciting gigs coming up very soon, so If you’re interested in coming out to see me perform as well as other Urban Mamsong goodies, sign up for my newsletter by clicking the link below.

These two months away has allowed me to get clear about some changes that will happen here on the blog. I have decided to open up the space to other mamas who are doing amazing things and who are very good friends of mine. So this Fall, be on the lookout for the amazing stories and perspectives of these phenomenal mamas.

I have missed this space and look forward to seeing and hearing from you soon.

My question for you:

How can I best serve you in this space? What would you like to know more about as it relates to being a mama and living an artistic/creative/vision-led life?

* By the way, in addition to revising my own book, I am one of the editors of "Raw Food on a Budget" by my Brilliant friend, Brandi Rollins. It is an amazing book about buying healthy foods in ways that nourishes our plates and our pockets. I recommend it to anyone who is interested in eating well without going broke.

Hope to see you soon!
